• Goal Seek Problem (Excel 2000)

Good day to all. This is only my second day here and, boy, am I impressed. I’ve already received more help in 24 hours here than I have from MIcrosoft in years wink

My newest problem concerns Goal Seek. I have attached a non-specific example file. The issue is that I need to see what value in cell C1 (currently set to 15%) will cause a value of zero in cell C25. Using the Goal Seek feature results in C1 containing a value of 10.74%. So far, so good.

However, the problem is that I don’t want to actually change the value in C1 (ie, I want to leave it set to 15%). What I need to do is to ascertain the result that Goal Seek gets and show that result in cell C27. But even when I run Goal Seek in VBA, the value in C1 changes, so I am kind of stopped. Any ideas?

    Thanks in advance… thankyou

Have you thought of using Tools|Scenarios. Although I have never played with Scenarios in VBA, there is a Scenarios Collection Object which would seem to address your needs.

      Regards.

If you’re already considering a solution involving the use of VBA, how about the following?
      – store the current value in C1
      – perform the goal seek process
      – copy the new value in C1 to C27
      – restore the original value in C1

Colin, I’m sorry I didn’t get back to you more timely, but I followed your suggestion and got the results I wanted.

        Thanks…
