Gmail display problem

For a couple of months the top of my Gmail opening page retains lines from previous actions (search, for example). I’m attaching a cropped screen shot.
Originally, I had about 6 lines of a previous search. I manged to get rid of some of them, but these other lines have appeared – it’s all very capricious.
How can I get this stuff off the screen?

Hi, Palomo, it all depends on how you have settings customised.

Try this:

Log in to Gmail.

Upper right hand of screen – Settings
Click on Web Clips tab.
Un-check “Show my web clips above the Inbox”
