• Global change to views (Outlook 2000)

A user would like to globally change the views for all of his Inbox/e-mail folders to use the Preview Pane, as opposed to having to go to each folder and turn on the preview pane option. Anyone have any suggestions?

I’ve checked all the options I can think of including the define view area, tools –> options areas, etc., but can’t come up with a way to do that. Any suggestions would be most appreciated! Thanks.

Looks like you still have to create the view somehow. Hope you understand the code…I don’t! Sorry.

Check out MaryJ’s post and then go to the View Menu, Current View, Define Views, pick the view you wish to change then choose Modify. Check out the “Other Settings” button. Once the everything is set to the way the user wants it, they hit Apply View in the Define Views dialog and this will affect all their folders.

A user can create a view that works with all folders or is specific to a certain folder. No code is necessary to understand as there is no code at all needed for this solution.

Also note in Outlook 2000 you can now use the Automatic Formatting feature, when defining views, to indicate which email messages have requested a return receipt without having to open the message and view its options.

do all folders use the same view currently? if yes, go into views > current view > define view and select the view by name (not ‘current view’). turn the preview on (settings button) and apply. next time you go to each folder using that view you’ll have the preview pane on.

Thanks, MJ. I think that will do it!

I missed the first part, I suppose, because I tried MJ’s and it did not work for me. I figure I must not have the same views in all my folders.
