without knowing more specifics, like do you have a news server you want ot use, tools > accounts > news and follow the steps. you need to know the news servers name.
many corp block the NNTP port and if they use exchange server, might set it up for NNTP services if they want employees to read news.

How will I find the news servers names? I am using MS very basic sites as a starter such as information at the link http://support.microsoft.com/support/news/default.asp
        but am not getting far.

most isps provide newsservers and will give you the server name, but since you are connecting at work, that’s not an option.
to test the nntp port, set up the msnews server. msnews.microsoft.com.
if the port is blocked, there’s no sense in looking for usenet servers. you’ll need to use deja.com’s web access instead. Microsoft also offers web access, but i don’t recall the url offhand. I hate web access, but if the ports are blocked, it’s your only choice.

You can use BBCodes to format your content.
