Getting all the updates for a new install

I recently had to re-install my Win7Pro due to hardware issues. As many of you know, Win7Pro out of the box is a rough customer and you need to get the approximatel 160 updates that have been released, except MicroSoft no longer provides any tech support for Win7.  I found one program, “Legacy Update that will scan your new installation and start retrieving them from God knows where, and it may require several reboots along the way but it seems to get all the needed updates and now my new Win7Pro is running like it should.

Has anyone found something better to get the whole library of Win7  Updates?  I like Win7Pro, I don’t especially look forward to having to move to Win10, so if anyone has found a good program to update a new install, please let us know?

I helped with several Win7 updates some years ago. From a problem install and a close to “from scratch.”
These threads are about the techniques I used. There are some references to other info and links that MAY still work(?).
It won’t hurt to read through them (they’re LONG) and see if they are any help. Hope so.

I take it you’ve already got the convenience rollup kb3125574 installed that’s still available up to May 2016?

IIRC, there was a Win7 later SP1+ iso (US) released by microsoft a few months prior to EoS. That would be the iso to use to reduce patchmessing about thereafter. (future backup iso?)
It came bundled with the annoying kb..3664 which was unremovable.
Unfortunately, don’t have the link but, someone else may have?

MSFT closed the public visible Win7 downloads..although..

Windows - commercial by definition and now function...

Your best method is to ensure you have a full image backup.  Reinstalling Windows 7 is not fun, not easy.

@Canadian-Tech posted a highly detailed procedure five years ago in this thread. The description of the process starts with the paragraph that begins, “When I re-build a system…”

Not sure if any of the information in there might have been affected by later developments, but it’s definitely a good starting point.
