I would like to get month end currency exchange rates from the web, so no one needs to input them. I think it can be done through a web query, but I’ve never done this before, plus I couldn’t find a site to link to. Could someone help? Thank you!

1) Open and minimize an instance of Excel
2) Navigate to the folder C:Program FilesMicrosoft OfficeOfficeQueries
3) Double click on “Microsoft Investor Currency Rates”When I did it, it put data from MSN MoneyCentral Investor into my Excel sheet that I had minimized. Where you go from there as far as editing the query I cannot tell you. There may be another way of calling the query without navigating to the folder, but I stumbled upon it the other evening and could not tell you how to otherwise call the query without saving it first.

AskWoody LoungerFebruary 1, 2002 at 2:28 am #567560Y…I get the same thing…Since the sites that you are querying are free, I do not imagine that you have many options about which data you wish to display. If you are set up for online trading, I am sure your brokerage firm could help you get the information you need. Otherwise, I have not really felt the need to delve into the web~excel connectivity issue very much, so I am pretty much out of ideas except as outlined above.

AskWoody LoungerFebruary 1, 2002 at 12:57 pm #567623I did a Data | GetExternalData | NewWebQuery to http://www.trustnet.com/general/rates.asp and experimented until I found that table 9 was what you want. See attached worksheet. HTH –Sam
