Many years ago, when I has first moved out of home and was learning to cook what I liked, I had a recipe for garlic soup. I had borrowed a friend’s collection of Robert Carrier volumes (that she had built up from weekly parts – in England in the late 1970’s) and read and copied out recipes that I liked.

That prized little book of my collection was accidentally left in the kitchen of one of my rented houses and is still much missed.

Now this week, a friend of mine has harvested his garlic and has given me a bucket full. While I have dutifully plaited it all and hung it up in an appropriate place, my mind wanders back to that recipe for the soup.

Does anyone know of the recipe? Or have one that they swear by?

        thanks for the quick response.

There are a few there that are worth considering. I wonder if anyone has the Robert Carrier original, though?

Shame about your dislike. One of the things I remember about the recipe is that it didn’t leave you with that ‘garlic overdose’ feeling. I find that using fresh garlic is best for everyhting. The sulphides used to dry and preserve garlic commercially leave me feeling awful.
