    how do i get rid of the red crosses beneath a link

        hi HansV and thank you for your quick reponse, having un-blocked all that seems safe to do. nothink seems to have changed at present. i will see what happens when i recieve an email from from the source again.

        hi hans, having tried everything that the lead said i should do to no avail, i wonder idf i could be missing or have a corupt file association,. can yopu suggest how i can check for this and correct if i have a corrupt file?

          If you right-click one of the picture placeholders, does the popup menu contain an option to show pictures?

              When you open the e-mail what type does it say in the heading – HTML, plain text? What folder is the e-mail in?

              A lot of times the source has been, moved, deleted and can not be found. So in case it has been move or etc, then it can NOT be controlled by your machine.

              I don’t get what could be going on if there is no link when he hovers on the red X. If it is an HTML e-mail there should be a link even if it is broken.

              If this is not a “personal” or otherwise sensitive message, you could post the code here and we could take a peek to see whether there is something obviously wrong with the message itself. To extract the code, right-click the message body and choose View Source. This should open in Notepad. Save the file with a sensible name (e.g., Source.txt), and then, to avoid the Lounge software corrupting the HTML, zip it into a .zip archive. Depending on what Zip software you have, this usually is located somewhere on the right-click context menu for files you right-click in Windows Explorer or on your desktop. (For built-in Windows XP functionality, use Send to>Compressed Folder.)

              what ever i have done to get this to work, i do not know. but all is now working correctly. thanks to all who have helped in resolving this problem.
