I want to FTP files nightly from a Win2k3 server to a Unix box. I thought I had done this years ago in a different company and cannot remember how I did it. Any hints? Any hints where to look?

      Welcome to Woody’s!

What have you tried, if anything? Do you remember if you were using any special software? – or a batch file? – or…?

I recall doing a command line FTP but I cannot remember parms.

You get something minimally helpful from typing

          ftp -?

in a Command Prompt window. For more detailed information you can fight your way round Start -> Help and Support (search for “FTP” and “FTP subcommands”). I assume that you are familiar with the sequence of FTP commands issued?

I have some quite heavy BATch files that I used to use to compare directories at both ends and just download new files, or those which were not in the target directory, but you’d be quite confused with these unless you were pretty familiar with the BATch language.

I’ve modified a current FTP BATch file at work, and attach it as a TXT file. I hope it is intelligible!

Thanks! This looks very familiar! I think with what you have given me, I can get it now. All I needed was the memory jog.
