I viewed a web site offering free download of Fresh View, an image viewr among other things. Has anyone had experience with that software?

Patch reliability is unclear. Unless you have an immediate, pressing need to install a specific patch, don't do it. |

AskWoody LoungerJanuary 29, 2010 at 9:00 am #1207209If you mean this “freshdevices” site, I am almost instantly cautious as it offers free driver tuneups & pc tuneups. While this site may be completely innocent, such offers on other sites are known to be methods of installing malware on unsuspecting machines. In short: personally I would be disinclined to test such software – even though it may be a harmless image viewer.

Depends on your definition of harmless
The utility is OK – but you need a code (freely provided) and they constantly send you emails – then you need to renew the registraion (and revalidate your email every month or so).I had a few of their utilities (View / Download etc) installed but eventually gave up after multiple “you need to reregister” cycles.

I ran into the same situation. Came across them when I was much more of a newbie. Curiously, I never used any of the software, even after dutifully downloading them repeatedly. Fresh Devices is a one-man operation out of Santa Monica, California as I recall. The click-throughs were the revenue stream for the site.
