I have a spreadsheet with headers A1:E1 and corresponding data A2:E2 to A50:E50.
I have a block of cells H2:K2 to H9:k9 [bordered & yellow] that holds calculations for this data. To keep the headers visible as I scroll down to latter entries, I froze the pane at row 2. When I scroll down, the headers remain but the block of cells [H2:K2 to H9:k9] move up and disappear. How can I keep them visible as I scroll as if to have them float in space or dissociate them with the row numbers or make the row numbers variable?
    Sample attached.

Is it just me, or is your sample a blank file?

        Rory,
It is not you, it is me. I think I may have sent file before saving it and that may be the reason for blank file.
        New file attached.

I can think of three options, none of which I think are exactly what you want:
      1. Open a new window onto the worksheet and tile it next to your existing one.
      2. Use a userform with an image of your cells (or if you are on 2003 or earlier, use the OWC spreadsheet control)
      3. Use the built-in watch window from the Formula Auditing toolabr to watch the cells of interest (they appear line by line rather than as a grid though).

In addition to the other suggestions, you could use the camera to show an image of the calculation block in a stretched Row 1
        (as per here)

You could say start your data in Row 11, and freeze the panes on Row 12 – this will then keep the yellow block visible.

Thank you to all who replied. You have given me options.

Can this be done horizontal, not vertically. Can the block be “frozen” to the right of the data, instead of above the data? Can I have a [separate] scroll that slides only the data to the left. I tried using “split” but could not get it to give me a separate vertical scroll, only additional horizontal scrolls.

Nope – see my original post. 😉
