    I am trying to follow the instructions in the latest AskWoody Plus’s newsletter I got today, Oct. 4, 2020. I can easily download 7z1900.exe and 7z1900-64.exe as the link OlderGeeks.com below says to do. But when trying to download the use 7 – Zip download link it just downloads the same two files I just mentioned. I cannot unzip the files I downloaded and can’t seem to get that 7 – Zip it says to use. I am posting the part of her article so hopefully someone can guide me as to how to unzip these files and use them. If I click on them they run and seem to install but give me nothing to use to run them.

    Download DISM_GUI from OlderGeeks.com if you don’t still have it from the last time we discussed it. It’s portable, so just unzip it. The file uses the .7z file format, so use 7-Zip to unzip it, then fire it up (Figure 8). Computer techs, this one needs to be on your flash drive.

      At the bottom of the page (your link 7-zip above), click on “Download Now.” The 7-zip program installer (7z1900-64.exe) will download  – place it on your desktop.
      Double click on the .exe file to install the program 7-Zip.

      Use the 7-Zip program to unzip DISM_GUI into a folder named DISM_GUI on your desktop. DISM_GUI is a portable program, which means it doesn’t install in you PC. It runs out of the folder you unzipped it into. So change to that folder and run the DISM_GUI by clicking on its executable file.

      OK, I understand where the confusion has happened.

      Perhaps @oldergeeks-com could expand on the AskWoody Plus newsletter article, e.g.:

      1. the difference between archive files and executable installer files and;
      2. how to determine what bitness of installer file should be downloaded.
      3. what to do after.

      Hope this helps…

      OH, I definitively agree. I even donated to them and after having a hard time I was kind of sorry I did. But with PKCano’s help, I believe I got it straightened out.

      Thanks to bot of you.

      Still following the instructions in the same newsletter mentioned above, I ran the SFC as instructed. Please see the attachment. I am not sure what this means. Any help and advice is appreciated.

        Did you run the program as administrator? Right click on the executable and choose “Run as administrator”

      The attachment shows the results from running it from that DISM_GUI program. I then ran it as, I have in the past, from the CMD window as an administrator. I got the same results. So in searching the NET I found a suggestion to run it in the Safe mode. I did that and the results said it found errors and fixed them. So I believe I am OK, at least for now.  Thanks again.
