      Is it only me?

I didn’t find PingStatus on OlderGeeks. I tried searching but it didn’t appear so I looked in the listings and found PingAlert and several others under ping but no pingstatus.

I then tried looking for it under the name .exe and found http://www.pingstatus.net by Bakidok in spanish……

Where do I find the version you indicated pingstatus 3.3.0

      Thanks, Barry

      Great tool!
now I can have a nice visual stats for my co-workers (users) when they say is the computer and it turns out is their local ISP having issues.

This Progrma suggestion got me thinking about something I would really like but haven’t seen since I was using a program called ?netstat? about 10 years ago.  It lived in the taskbar.

After multiple windows upgrades (and Mac upgrades) iterations I couldn’t get it to work reliably anymore so I got rid of it.

What I would like is a program that checks my network connectivity (like PING) and also Download speed (download more important to me) – then reports or logs that info either to my server or emails a report if out of range or something.  Could run on an always on Windows or Mac PC too.

I pay for bandwidth and expect it to be pretty close to 500 Mbps.  Sadly my VPN usually slays the speed frequently in half.  VPN is PIA.   Anyone have any ideas or suggestions?

      Thanks in advance

      -Doug

Unfortunately, any changes you make to “Options” aren’t permanent. I work for a Satellite ISP and MUST raise the timeouts by at least x10 or more. Having to reset ALL the times each time I run it makes this app pretty useless.

Thanks.  Pingstatus.exe  downloaded and worked !  Not sure if I understand options but did see my internet was all was in the green for now.

BTW,  downloading from the website https://www.pingstatus.net/en.html     I was cautioned not to as not safe.

I am not sure if MALWAREBYTES or Windows Defender did want it from WINDOWS INSTALL option on that site.

Since I’m not a networking guru, is the program just a Ping with no D/L speeds or U/L speeds? If so I assume that you should get low pings if all is well. Is that the whole purpose of the program (just to ping)?

Don't take yourself so seriously, no one else does 🙂

Yes, it is ping only and lower time is better, but not necessarily an indicator of goodness.
This is a simple test of network connection and should only be used when you have a problem as it adds data to the internet and if we all did that…

        cheers, Paul

      “The utility’s author created a starting target — google.com ”
I tried other URLs but nothing happened, IE http://www.yahoo.com,
although I was able to check the status for my router successfully.

      Thanx, Sheldon
