AskWoody PlusJuly 26, 2021 at 8:57 am #2379979Logyx Pack by Drazen is a pack of over 150 predominately logic-oriented games.
The traditional spelling of the word is “predominantly.” However, this is such a common error that one could reasonably argue that the “-ate-” spelling is now correct.
In any case, here’s the reasoning: “predominantly” (in either spelling) is an adverb, and most “-ly” adverbs are formed from adjectives (e.g., quick/quickly, careful/carefully, perfect/perfectly).
“Predominant” is an adjective.
“Predominate,” on the other hand, is a verb, and adverbs aren’t generally created from verbs. I can’t think of any off the top of my head. To use it in this sentence, you’d say something like this:
Logyx Pack by Drazen is a pack of over 150 games, and logic-oriented games predominate.
I know that there are people who will find this irritating, and to them, I apologize.

AskWoody MVPJuly 26, 2021 at 1:49 pm #2380081Also available on majorgeeks which is An Official Mirror for the author of the games package. I tend to trust Tim Tibbets and his crew after many, many years of frequenting and downloading from that site. YMMV
Edit: just downloaded it from the above link without any warnings in Firefox ESR 78.12 using a penguista OS.

Moderator edit of the post
Whilst the original author does not have a list of ‘official mirrors’ on their site, it couldn’t possibly be, that they are in fact an ‘official mirror’ agreed by and with the author without public facing documentation?
So, you implying that false advertising is at work on the part of majorgeeks?

AskWoody PlusJuly 26, 2021 at 5:28 pm #2380138The author of the program is Drazen Beljan. He has no contact information. No Facebook. No Twitter. The guy has been a ghost for years. Heck, MG does not even list his full name. Why? Because they don’t know it. We were good friends with the owner of the old freewarefiles website before they closed for medical reasons. That is where we got the full name. No website provides any more info, including MG. I think MG just doesn’t know what a mirror is.

I plead guilty. The addition of the paragraph containing the word came very late and thus did not enjoy the magic touch of our expert copy editor, Roberta Scholz, who would have saved me.
