    Hello again folks,
hope I’m in the correct area:
As I access lots of computers between home/work/travel etc, I rely on free email accounts. Hotmail seems to attract the most spam & storage is shrinking as it obviously heads towards pay for use, lycos appears to be blocked by a lot of isp’s, and I’ve just started with mail.com which has great features/storage but the pop ups are a real pain, worst than most. (Also you can’t use pop up killers with mail.com as they all come up with mail.com as the url).
I can put up with advertising, but can anyone suggest a reliable free email provider with reasonable storage and without being bombarded by pop ups?
    Thanks again
    Willow

      Willow,

      I use MyRealBox

It is a beta site for Novell’s webmail, but it is VERY stable and hasn’t been down except for panned upgrades.

You can access your account from the web, an IMAP e-mail client, a POP3 e-mail client.

The have spam filters that are very good. I think in the 18-24 months I’ve had an account with them I have received 1 spam, I think.

There are no ads, and you get 10 MB of disk space.

Thanks Bryan, but sadly my real box are not accepting new members.
Does anyone know of similar beta sites?

        Ben (Willow)

          Ben,

          I’m sorry, sorry

I never would have wasted you time if I’d know that they weren’t taking new registrations.

Willow, tinker with your firewall and popup settings. I am using mail.com and finally got a balance set so that I usually only get one or two popus. I use ZA, NoAdds and Pest Patrol. I’d hate to have to change addresses but the popups were driving me crazy. When I had it set at none it wuldn’t load. I’m not sure what the final arrangement was but I think I had to take it out of NoAdds and rely on ZA medium security with no third party cookies. GL

        Thanks for the reply GL,
I’m running ZA (excellent stuff) but could you give me more info on Pest Patrol and No Adds? I’m using POW (another freeware, the joys of kids and a budget) which is normally really good…except in the case of mail.com. As you say, I’d hate to have to change addresses again as it doesn’t seem a bad emailer as far as features go, it really is just a pity about the pop ups.
        Ben
