Every time I open my .asp page in FrontPage (or even run a web-wide function like changing the borders, where the page isn’t directly opened) it clobbers this code in at the end of an asp page:

and the page directly proceeds to no longer work.

Is there a way I can comment this out so FP no longer hurts it?

I’m confused. How does FP clobber the code — by inserting the code block in your initial post where one didn’t exist before, or by altering code you’d already written?

        It actually deletes it.

It leaves all the code alone till the end of the page and then it deletes the end if.

          Hi Angela,

          I don’t use FrontPage, so this is a longshot…

A couple of things to try. This may differ depending on the version you’re using. I have FP2000.

          – Tools | Page Options | HTML Source tab…Make sure the When saving file(s): “Preserve Existing HTML” is selected

          – Tools | Page Options | Compatibility tab… Make sure the server option “Microsoft Internet Information Server…” is selected

The only other solution I can offer is to do as much editing as possible outside of FrontPage (such as in Notepad). Of course, that may not be an option when updating web-wide formatting items.

          Hope this helps!
