• Foxit Reader Loses Append from Scanner

    Greetings All –

I have used Foxit Reader for a number of years.  I have one document (automobile maintenance log) where I append new pages from my scanner after every service appointment.  About three years ago, the “append from scanner” option was removed from Foxit Reader, and I had to keep my vehicle logs in MS Word.  Then a couple of years ago, the scanning feature came back and worked fine up until the last update.  Once again I need to come up with some arrangement to keep my vehicle records current.  Alt+i+p+s doesn’t seem to work with Office 2016, besides, Word scans tended to be somewhat weird and didn’t allow for text searches.  Before I retired I used Adobe Acrobat at the office, but I am unwilling to pay that much for a feature that I only rarely use.  If anyone can show me how to get the scanner feature enabled in Foxit Reader, or can recommend a pdf program that can handle scanning additional pages into an existing file, I would appreciate it.  Thanks.

    Casey H.

Foxit removed the print to pdf from the new version. They have a download available to install the older version after uninstalling version 10  http://cdn01.foxitsoftware.com/produ…L10N_Setup.exe

I know Nitro PDF reader has a print to pdf and allows appending to pdf. Never used it to scan though.

Thanks for the input and the link.  I suspect I’ll pass on it, however, as I would be fearful of an older version having security issues.  Printing to a pdf file is not an issue as I have a number of options for that including, “Microsoft Print to PDF.”  I have been enjoying Foxit Reader for free for a number of years, so I think I’ll try their paid version.  There’s a free trial so I can see if it does what I need it to do–add additional scanned pages to an existing file.

I don’t know if this has the precise feature you need, but pdf24 does let you do a lot of different things with PDF files…

Thanks Elly.  I’ll give it a try.
