I need to create a spreadsheet to figure the differences between money amounts each day and show them as percent of change in both positive and negative numbers whichever the case may be. I am a newbie with working with formulas so don’t worry about over explaining the solution, I want to learn!
    Thanks

      Jim,

If you have your daily amounts in say column A, starting in A2, then in B3 if you enter

            (A3-A2)/A2

it should give the % difference betweeen the two.

To display that difference as a % you need to use number formatting and the follwing format shold suit :

            +0.00%;{Red} -0.00%

That should display .05 as 5.00% if positive and -5.00% if negative. Note you are going to have replace the { } brackets around Red with [ ].

I have attached a very simple spreadsheet to show it in place.

It never fails to amaze me how I can always get help from this site. For the life of me I couldn’t remember how to do this and a quick search (after opening lots of books) solved my problem.
      THANKS!!!!
