    Attached is db in question:

Main form is frm_Complaints with 4 subforms on a Tab Control. After the user enters the ComplaintID I would like to have the ComplaintDate updated automatically with Date. The code is in the After Update Event of the ComplaintID. When I enter a new Complaint ID, I receive the following error message:

“The expression After Update you entered as the event property setting produced the following error: A problem occurred while Microsoft Access was communicating with the OLE Server or ActiveX Control.”

I am clueless. Thanks in advance

Your database appears to be slightly corrupt, but fortunately it’s easily solved:
      – Create a blank new database.
      – Import all database objects from the problem database into the new one.
The code should work in the new database. It does for me.
