Is your password saved and hiding behind asterisks? If so you can reveal it easily using 007 Password Recovery http://online.securityfocus.com/tools/1515

No, it is not hiding behind asterisks. 007 is a neat little program, but it doesn’t help me.

Goodness that does pose a problem. I guess your best bet is to ring your ISP help desk and explain the situation after all you will have your unique Username: We can’t change our passswords here in NZ without knowing the current password though.

          Good Luck.

The ISP has nothing to do with it. My ISP allows me to change the POP3 password at will. The OE6 Identity password must be held somewhere in the Win96SE registry. Uninstalling and reinstalling OE6 doesn’t work. If I were to format the HDD and reinstall OE6 that would work but I’m not prepared to go that far.

I see, I’m sorry, it pays not to assume everyone gets their emails the same way as me. To get my email’s with OE pop3, I need my ISP password to log on. I can change my password at will too but I need to log on to my ISP server to do this. When I’m away from home I usually read my emails on my ISP server.

Good luck in finding your password. Chances are it is somewhere on your system.

              Cheers, Darny

I think I’ll re-post this in another thread. Thanks anyway.

I think you may have to end up messing with the Registry, deleting the Indenty & re-add it. Go to the link below, everything you want to know about OE. Sorry I could not be more helpful.

Yes, that is the route I ultimately took. Delete the Identity from the Registry.
