I set my bottom margin to about 4 inches. Hence my text ends at that point. I would like to have the page number right under the text. But when I insert page numbers, it puts them into a footter at the bottom of the page. I want the page numbes to be right under where the text stops. (4 inches up) This would be on every page.

How do I move the footer up, or how would I put page number right under the point where the text stops.

I’m still using Word 2000, but I assume (hopefully) that this hasn’t changed.

      1. Go into page setup…/margin tab & set the bottom margin for 4″ & the footer for 4″.
      2. Put the page number in the footer using the Header & Footer toolbar (don’t use Insert/Page numbers, as this uses a text box which affects spacing).

      See attached.
      Cheers,

        Thanks Phil,
You know, I saw the setting for the “header’ and ‘footer’ where it said ‘From edge’. In my mind I thought it meant from the edge of the Left margin. Why? I don’t know…….. Hence I did not even try it….. I looked at your attachment page set up and saw where you made the adjustment and said…..”OH, from the bottom edge!” bash

        Anyway, all is well.
        Thanks again
