I have just had a new computer built to spec the engineer transfering all my files and folders from the old HD to the new but when I first opened OE none of the many folders I had previously created for emails I want to keep are visible. Can anyone suggest the path to where they may be lurking? Also the list of dozens of email senders (Spam)I had collated over some years also seems to be missing as senders I had blocked are now getting into my IN box, can the list be located also & imported? Thanx Dave.

Patch reliability is unclear. Unless you have an immediate, pressing need to install a specific patch, don't do it. |

AskWoody LoungerNovember 11, 2009 at 3:59 pm #1185056Is your old PC still available and in running condition? If so, start Outlook Express there, select Tools | Options…, activate the Maintenance tab and look for the value of Store Folder.
Chances are the same folder path was used on your new PC. See How do I move my Outlook Express folders to my new machine? The Blocked Senders list is stored in the Windows Registry; you’d have to export the list to a file on your old PC, transfer the file to your new PC and import it into the registry. You may want to leave this to the person who built your new PC. See OLEXP: How to Backup and Restore Outlook Express Blocked Senders List and Other Mail Rules for instructions.

Many thanks Hans….. Sadly the mother board gave up the ghost on the old computer but I expect it is still in some corner of the shop where I left it to be plundered for spares. Both the CD & DVD player were still working ok so maybe he will resell them for a song, certainly someone will be glad of them, I know I would at one time.
I have taken a screen shot of your reply and will copy it to my memory stick and show it to the shop owner who I’m sure will know what to do. Especially regarding the blocked senders list in the registry. In the mean time I will have a look at the web article you pointed me to. Many thanks again…. really appreciate all your feed back as I’ve said many times but feel inclined to say it again. Dave
Ps. I have recently receieved some impressive PPs -with music- as attachments and think they would be appreciated on the lounge, is it possible to post them? -
