If I open the Windows Explorer folder which holds my OExpress5 email, I have a file Folders.dbx which is quite large (6MB). No such folder, Folders.dbx, is visible when I have OE open. However, there is a root folder, Local Folders, which is visible when OE is open. “Local Folders” contains no email and is at the top of my folder tree for Inbox, Outbox etc. No file “Local Folders.dbx” is visible in Windows Explorer.
What is this file Folders.dbx I can see In Windows Explorer? Is it in fact my Local Folders I can see in OE and, if so, why is it so large? Can I reduce it or delete it?

Not exactly. “Folders.dbx” contains the local folder hierarchy (SP?) but not the folder contents. Those are in the *.dbx filoes that have the same name as your mail folders. For newsgroups, there will be a DBX file for every newsgroup you ever looked at. Also has:

– Newsgroup lists (downloaded from news server)
– Message rules
– Miscellaneous bits and settings

Not really. Have you ever compacted it? If you delete it, you lose how your folders are nested and all rules.
