Folder Password? (outlook 2000)

Good Afternoon,
Is it possible to put a password requirement to open a folder like the “Sent Items” or a folder under the inbox? Without boring you with too much detail, this would be more convienent than adding a profile to the email account.
Thanks in advance for any help that can be given.

As far as I know, it is easy to password protect Outlook to prevent the program opening, but I have not yet heard of an individual way of protecting a folder within it. Perhaps someone else has a solution.

Could I trouble you to tell me how to password protect Outlook to prevent it from being opened by people other than the owner.
I appreciate any help you can give.

Hi Stats, there are a number of ways to set up Outlook which combine to protect folders, profiles and accounts. Are you using the one Outlook program for several users? If so are you asking how you might protect your own incoming mail from being seen by other users of the same program? If this is the question, then the simple answer is as jscher2000 has said, create a 2nd PST to your profile.

We all have different ways of what we think is simple. Personally I use a couple of privacy methods with Outlook. A simple one is under Outlook’s >tools>Internet accounts>select your account name>go into Properties>Servers>Incoming Mail, under your Account Name and PW, do not tick “Remember Password”, this way when Outlook is launched, no one can log into your email without typing in the password.

Another tool is under “Define Views” for example the Inbox, select NEW VIEW, tick “This Folder Visible only to me”, you also have the option to make all folders (all email folders) “visible only to me”. When you have “Applied” this view, you will see it change in the settings to “Private”.

There are too many options in Outlook to cover without being sure what you are after exactly. But if you have not already done so, customize your Outlook toolbar, add options not obviously listed, this will be a help to locating simple tasks to protect privacy. Hope this helps.

I don’t think so, but you could add a second PST file to your profile and drag the sensitive stuff into it. A PST can have a password for the PST as a whole.
