    Hi,

I’m looking for a free program to play FLV files. I’ve tried FLV Player, but it freezes when you maximize the window or try to rewind or fast-forward. PlayFLV–which integrates within Windows Media Player–suffers from similar crashing problems.

Anybody care to recommend a program with which they’ve had success?

    Thanks!

I’ve been using FLV-Media Player from HybridWeb without problems.
VLC media player also works well.

        Hey Hans,

How do you know so much? Thanks so much for these prompt and helpful recommendations!

I like both programs, but with a small quibble for each:

FLV-Media Player lacks the ability to not store file history; you must manually click “Delete Personal Date” each time you want to do this.

VLC Media Player lacks an auto-repeat function.

I guess it depends on how you use these programs. Neither of the points you mention is a problem to me…

Thanks for the notes about the two programs. That may be important to some other Lounger.

You should also attempt to contact the developer of each program. They may be amenable to suggestions for future enhancements.

VLC has a “loop” button when advanced controls is activated.
There is also a repeat option when using a playlist.
