    Once more I turn to The Experts.

    As a proposal drone I get calls to create docs that contain export restricted info. I’d like to automate the flagging of that info.

    In effect, I’d like to tag controlled paragraphs with a text box that appears next to them in the margin, containing the “this is controlled info” statement. Then I’d like to put a field on the front page of the document that says that controlled info is contained on pages [2, 14, whatever – harvesting numbers from the tagged paragraphs].

    Marking the paragraphs with the text box sidebar is easy, but I’m having problems bending the bookmark or index features to my will. Especially because I’m already using the index feature to compile my document acronym list ( http://www.wopr.com/cgi-bin/w3t/showthread…vc=1#Post191153%5B/url%5D )

    Suggestions on handling multiple distinct indices in the same document, and/or suggestions for coding the tags and gathering-page-number macro would both be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks in advance,

      You can use the f switch in both the index entries (XE fields) and in the index itself.

      Example:
      – Index entries look like { XE "Some text" t "Descriptive text" f "a" }
      – Index looks like { INDEX c "2" f "a" } will include only the index entries that have an f "a" switch.

      You might be able to do something with Captions.

      This document uses captions in a text frame to mark the controlled data, and a Table of Contents for the specific caption type to list the page numbers.

      Thanks both to Hans and Stuart!

      On using the index feature with /f option – I’m having problems segregating out items destined for the index that I use to build the glossary, and items tagged as controlled info. The /f flag may be just the ticket, allowing me to have two indices running in the same document, each compiling different items. The key will be if I can make the glossary index ignore the /f flagged items.

      On using captions – I’ve already got captions compiling up to a table of exhibits. I don’t use table tags. I’ll see if I can use that label for this purpose, but all I’m interested in is an in-line list of page numbers of pages bearing flagged items – not a separate page containing a roster of them all.

      Again thanks!

        You can create a new Caption type, using any name you want, as I did in the sample document I posted.

        I appreciate that the formatting isn’t exactly what you wanted, but it is pretty simple and gets the data you need.
