I am having a problem with the first line of text on a page being chopped off–that is, the top part of all characters that extend above the lower case characters is missing.

[*]This happens only for particular styles (e.g., body) but I don’t see anything odd about the styles that are causing problems. I have delved to the bottom depths of the modify style dialog and don’t see anything odd.
[*]This happens in both the case where the top line on the page is the first line of the paragraph and the case where the paragraph has wrapped from the preceding page.
[*]It is independent of the font.
[*]It is independent of the header format (I’ve tried different spacings, etc.)
[*]It is independent of the amount of space I specify Before the line (in Paragraph dialog box).
This is a large (>600 pages) document that has been around for several years. I am sure that the styles have been changed from the original MS Word styles and there are many odd styles since the document has been edited (in English) by users for whom English is a second language. Some styles–but not the one in question– contain Japanese characters. I’m just saying that the styles are a MESS!
The problem is not just a display problem; it also occurs in the hardcopy.
Does anyone have any ideas how to resolve this?
