“What concerns me the most: The way Win10 is getting patched so hard.”
Woody, isn’t Windows 10 supposed to be SaaS according to Microsoft? This probably implies in their view that all of us the (still free) Windows 10 users are at the same time their beta testers.

Hi Woody – what’s the status on KB 3139398 and KB 3139852 from last month’s round of patches? Does the recommendation continue to be a hold on these two patches? Thanks!

      Hold. More coming shortly.

Yep, but I would’ve expected old security problems to be just that – old security problems. Windows 10 is inheriting a whole bunch of them.

So are there any specific patches with regard to Win7 that should be avoided from yesterday’s patches?

    • #44778

Give it time. It usually takes a week or longer for big problems to emerge. Keep watching the MS-DEFCON rating and, when it’s safe, I’ll raise the white flag – and fill you in on any lingering gotchas.

Does KB3148198 still have the adware code from KB3146449/KB3139929?

Was the code ever tracked down / isolated in the binary?

I never saw any indication that Microsoft had gone ahead with showing ads.

I think the public reaction may have something to do with it…

      KB2952664 showed up again for me; it’s a no-no.

Or maybe it was just too easy to block or remove the browser plugin.

Please be aware that the famous KB3139852 which seemed to fix a lot of issues for some people in March 2016 is now superseded by KB3145739.
This means that if you install KB3145739 which is Security Update for Windows Graphics Component: April 2016, you will not see KB3139852 in the list of available updates as its functionality is provided by the later patch.
This is only a technical information, not a suggestion to install this patch now, please wait until it is all cleared via the MS-DEFCON system.

Same here… 3035583 is back also, despite having been previously hidden.
