For the past couple of days, in firefox (version 12.0), whenever I open Firefox or a new window (but not a new tab), I get a dialog box: “[JavaScript Application] TypeError: Components.classes[TvtPwmComponent_CID] is undefined” Help!

Have you tried updating java from their site.

      Please do the following.

[*]If you have the layout with the orange oblong button, hit ALT to toggle the text links on.
[*]Click “Help”, then “Restart with add-ons disabled”.
[*]Confirm by clicking “Restart” and then in the next menu, click the button called “Continue in Safe Mode” without checkmarking any of the boxes.

When Firefox restarts, all your add-ons will be disabled. Do whatever you normally do that gives you the error. If Firefox doesn’t produce one, then one of your add-ons is the culprit.

What you have to do next is follow the same procedure and then when you get the menu, checkmark the top box called “Disable all add-ons”. Then click the button at the bottom which says “Make changes and restart”.

After that, it’s just a case of re-enabling them one by one until the problem recurs. Then you’ll know which one is the culprit.

Here’s a list of problematical extensions just in case you have one of them: Firefox Problematical Extensions

Thanks – I had tried that with the plug ins, but it turned out to be the Thinkvantage Password Manager 3.0. Grrr.

You can use this add-on instead: LastPass Password Manager

Anyway, glad to hear you found the troublemaker.
