    Firefox 2.0.0.4 have been released and is now being offered for download. Updates are distributed via built-in update system, either it will come to you, or you check for updates via Help > Check for Updates.

    The 1.5-branch is updated to 1.5.0.12, and this must be the last one, since it earlier was due to end support in April, and prolonged it to mid-May 2007.

        Oops, sorry Tony.
        Guess it’s because I don’t read much posts that have “Thunderbird” or Monkey this or Monkey that in the subject. smile

        Anyhow there isn’t exactly much idea to mention it here, since if you have Fx you will be offered the update, or find it when you check for updates. And if you don’t have Fx, you will be presented to the latest version at their pages anyhow. But still it is a major program, and changes in such maybe should get a little attention.

          Automatically checking for updates is an option in FireFox. Some users may have turned this option off, so a notification in this forum is useful!

            Hi Hans,
            Yes, I know it is an option, that is why I wrote “… will be offered the update, or find it when you check for updates.”. I was thinking that if you have disabled auto-checking you probably would/should do a manual check periodically. I.e. if you say no to the update help in a program it is up to you to check for updates.

            Then of course some may want to check manually even if auto-checking is enabled, to be really really sure that there is no update waiting. grin

            But also, as I said, major programs that are used by many, every day, that may have important security issues, maybe should get attention.

            Anyhow, now Tony and I have made sure that it is duly mentioned (twice). smile

      Just updated FF2, got a message about Java Console 6.n incompatibility, accepted the offer to check for updates to that product, but the check failed. Unfortunately I didn’t have the sense to write the details down. FF updated successfully otherwise.

      Anyone know where I should be looking for Java Console Updates? Thought I had updates for them set automatically.

        This is not a Firefox error and Java Runtime Environment 6 (JRE 6) still works with Firefox 2.0.0.4

        When you install JRE 6 it adds an extension to Firefox that adds a menu item to the Tools menu to open the Java Console. There is an error in the set-up file for the extension that only lists it as compatible with Firefox 2 and not Firefox 2.0.0.* – This causes the extension to be disabled when you upgrade Firefox, but JRE 6 will still work normally. The only difference is that you will no longer have a menu item that opens the Java Console (most people will never need this).

        This extension is hidden so will not appear in the add-ons manager. The extension is installed in the application directory rather than the profile folder. If you look in the extensions folder within the application directory (default location C:Program FilesMozilla Firefoxextensions) the extension will be in a folder called {CAFEEFAC-0016-0000-0000-ABCDEFFEDCBA}

        If you want to make the extension compatible with Firefox 2.0.0.* then:
        Close Firefox
        Go to you extensions folder within your Firefox installation folder – default location C:Program FilesMozilla Firefoxextensions
        Open the folder called {CAFEEFAC-0016-0000-0001-ABCDEFFEDCBA}
        Edit the file called install.rdf with a text editor and change
        2.0
        to
        2.0.0.*

        Go to your profile folder and delete extensions.cache, extensions.ini and extensions.rdf
        When you re-start Firefox these files will be re-created and the Java Console extension will work again.

        John,
        Don’t have the slightest …

        I seem to get this question smile; another John asked me in post 621,397 (when Fx 2.0.0.1 was new). See Tony’s reply, it may give some help.
