    Hi

My company has a website which promotes tourism with videos of places. In IE these videos pop up without problem presumably because the web chappie develops the website using IE. However, in Firefox I get a pop up with the message 404 the requested url was not found on this server.

Can one or two other Firefox users check the site to see if this is a widespread problem or one with my own installation? Go to the link below and there is a list of places lower down the page, each of which has a video button.

Any help in finding the cause would be helpful. The web chappie is dismissive of the problem, e.g. no one uses Firefox.

    Many thanks
    David

Same here, I’m afraid. Works fine in IE, but with FF, result as attached.

      Two things I think:
1] It is your web chappie who should be dismissed for being so narrow minded and short sighted.
2] I’ll move this from Other Browsers to the HTML forum – hopefully someone will be able to explain what the problem is.

      Hi David

Just tried it on the latest nightly Firefox/Deer Park build and also got the 404 Not Found error.

Works fine. Using Fire Fox 1.0.6.

Doesn’t work for me (FF 1,0,6). Getting the same Not Found error.

My mistake – – I read the post too fast! It does not work.

Many thanks. Will pass this on tomorrow to webmaster. Will follow up in this forum later in the week.

Working fine today (8/17) with Firefox 1.06.

Thanks for trying. We thought we had it fixed earlier this week and I was going to ask others to try. Now I know its fixed.

        Thanks to all who responded

        David.

It has just worked without problems for me in FF 1.0.6.

However, I would comment that the videos all look as if they have been shot in a thin mist… And I would have liked to know how big the downloads were before doing the download!

Many thanks for checking this for me John, sorry I’ve not responded sooner due to holiday.

I agree that the videos appear a touch misty and we will have to look at how to get them looking better on the web. I’ve looked at the videos in both FF and IE and they seem to be the same, with perhaps the major difference being that in IE they appear in their own window whilst FF invokes Windows Media Player. Good point.

As to download time, I’m afraid that we now work on the basis that everyone has access to broadband. Doubt whether I can do much about this.

Again, many thanks to all who have helped.

            David
