Mozilla have released Firefox 3.0.11, this is a security/stability update and is available from http://www.mozilla.com/

There seems to be a problem with Java and Firefox 3.0.11, for many sites Java will work just fine, but for other sites Firefox may freeze or close down. If anybody is experiencing this problem you can revert to Firefox 3.0.10 until this is fixed. It is available from the Mozilla ftp site, ftp://ftp.mozilla.org/pub/firefox/releases/3.0.10/
To download Firefox 3.0.10 you first need to select the folder that corresponds to your OS, and then select the folder for your language.

It appears the problem may be with JavaScript and not Java, one site where the problem is noticeable is the Java site.
For example these pages produce problems. If you have JavaScript enabled with Firefox 3.0.11 the browser will stop working if you go to http://www.java.com/en/download/installed.jsp
If you go to http://www.java.com and click on any of the following links it will also stop working – “Downloads” or “Help Center” or “Do I have Java?”

Things like that can happen, but imagine the stink people would have raised if it had been Microsoft and Internet Explorer!

Tony, I have to revert to Firefox 3.0.10, but never having using a FTP site before, I didn’t know what to click on. Please lead me to the proper place.

Everything I tried to load took forever or didn’t load at all, I have to get rid of this update, now.

Thanks Tony,
I wondered what was wrong when I selected View top new features. I will open it again later, the problem may have been caused by so many people getting the update. If it looks the same I will revert to the previous version as was suggested.

Tony, you have come to my rescue once again.

I now have Firefox 3.0.10, I never saw such a mess that the new version was. The homepage was fine, but the links appeared with the text jumbled and on top of each other. If you had not supplied the earlier version I would have had to remove Firefox, it was that bad.

Not everybody is seeing this issue. The java.com site is the only site where I have experienced any problems. Further investigation shows this may be due to the Java Deployment Toolkit plugin (C:Program FilesJavajre6binnew_pluginnpdeploytk.dll). If that plugin is disabled the Java site works. I have only seen this issue with Firefox 3.0.11, the site works with Firefox 3.5 and 3.6a1pre

The crash was occurring when JavaScript was used to query the Java Deployment Toolkit plugin. Sun have updated the file that was causing the problems on their site, so it now works with Firefox 3.0.11
