The now near-obligatory “AI” chatbot in Firefox 136 is optional and easily disabled with instructions from the AskVG website. Using about:config is also easy to do. It looks like “AI” is invading everything, whether we like it or not. For reference, take a look at AskVG instructions to be prepared in case the AI chatbot makes an unwanted appearance (it is optional) – read for general information:

      Interesting, not seeing it here.

Double interesting when I added the screen shot I didn’t get the option to include it in text!

The new file attach box on the website doesn’t work! Will not attach files!

I’ll test this further when I get home on my desktop.

        Interesting, not seeing it here.

From the Mozilla support article Access AI Chatbots in Firefox:

“This feature is experimental and is being introduced to the Firefox user base through a progressive rollout. It may not yet be available to all users….

How do I remove this from Firefox?

In the sidebar, choose the settings iconSidebar Settings 15112024. In the Customize sidebar panel, uncheck the AI chatbot box in the Firefox tools section.”

FYI, I’m not seeing this AI chatbot in my FF 136.0.0.

By the way, it has lots of security fixes too.  More memory safety bugs fixed (at least for this month if that).  I’m going to see how many actually affect Linux if possible.

Here’s the weird file attach box I was getting on my laptop.
      New-file-attach-method

I just fired up my laptop and I’m still getting the screen above!
So why am I getting two different attach file screens. Both computers using FF 136
Win 11 Pro 24H2 works correctly while Win 10 Pro 23H2 gives the bogus screen above?

      UPDATE:
Problem solved. NoScript had marked askWoody.com as untrusted. Must have happened with the update. I’ve been having some problems w/NoScript forgetting settings recently but I didn’t attribute it to a FF Update! Now I know…
