On Window 11 Pro using Firefox on a 15.6 laptop computer I would like to reduce/minimize the size of the taskbar etc etc at the top of the page. I assume a setting in about:config would be the way to go, but which one?  Any suggestions most gratefully accepted.

To reduce the width of the firefox browser menubar
      Within about:config search for: browser.compactmode.show

If not there, you will need to create a ‘new boolean’ called:

      browser.compactmode.show

      set the value to TRUE
      Exit about:config

Click on Hamburger on top right corner within firefox
Navigate to More Tools > Customise Toolbar.
Select the Density dropdown button at the foot of the presented page
      then select Compact (not suppoted)
Which reduces the height of the menubar.
      Default is NORMAL

I’ve been using this for years without issue, even though it states (not supported)

Windows - commercial by definition and now function...

Thanks for this. One tip to get to customizing the tool bar even faster, just right click on any open area of the menu bar > Customize Toolbar.

You can also use this pref in about:config:

        layout.css.devPixelsPerPx

The default is -1, which is the same as 1 (100%).

Positive numbers smaller than 1 will shrink the UI. Numbers larger than 1 will enlarge it.

set it to 0.85, for example, if you want the UI scaled to be 85% of the default size.

This should work fine in Windows and Linux if you are using X11. It has not worked in Linux under Wayland in Waterfox! I have no idea if it works on Macs.
