I updated to 1.5.0.3 last night and this morning created an account at a web site. Firefox is now saving my passwords without having the save password option checked. I always had this option off as I use Roboform. Also, I had clear all private data when Firefox closes selected and if I say clear passwords the confirm before deletion box now shows up as Firefox selects that option automatically when clear passwords is selected. Any suggestions?

Have you tried creating a new user profile in Firefox that will eliminate any extensions that you have installed? My guess is that somewhere, a user-specific setting got munged. I lost the ability for links (coded with the TARGET=”_blank” attribute) to open a new window after the upgrade, but I determined it to be caused by an extension – which was also upgraded at the same time, and of my own doing.

I agree with Mark about creating a new profile is the easiest way to go. I have not heard of this problem before and searched through the mozillazine forums but could not find any reference to it.

If you do create a new profile you do not have to start from scratch. You can copy certain files such as bookmarks across. See migrating settings to a new profile

As for the second issue about the confirmation dialog, if you set it up to delete passwords then Firefox will always ask for confirmation. This is by design and can not be changed.

My decision was to reinstall. I saved my Bookmarks and user Chrome. I dumped everything Mozilla related after the uninstall. Since I had all the extension install files already(using laptops makes you prepared for any breakdown in any hotel room) a nice fresh clean install went quickly. The only item I forgot was the list of the multitude of blocked ads. I added the Filter G updater for Adblock to remedy that issue. At this point most everything seems a bit quicker. I wish Firefox had the page scaling ability of Opera.
