A client just sent us a document and asked us how to stop the “find changes” in the track changes accept/reject function from finding changes that had been accepted. Here’s what happens: The client says she accepted the changes, and the document shows no markup for track changes (no strikethrough for deletes, double underline for additions, etc.). But if you go to Track Changes>Accept/Reject changes, and use the arrow buttons to find changes, the changes that had been made are highlighted. But the accept/reject buttons are grayed out, so you can’t accept or reject any of the selections. We had the client save the document to .rtf, and then she could accept all changes. Once she had accepted the changes, track changes worked properly and was unable to find any of the changes from before. Then we had her re-save it as a word .doc, and they stayed gone.
I found one article in the MS KNowledge Base that seem to address something like this, but it had to do with a master document that had a subdocument with track changes turned on. Not the case in this instance. Has anyone heard of anything like this before?
Thanks,
Tia
