Ok, I surf the web for a few days and then I run adawae and/or spybot and I always find the same spyware over and over. Since I know the names (Common Name, Newdot, etc. ) Is there a way to stop them from loading in the first place?

Patch reliability is unclear, but widespread attacks make patching prudent. Go ahead and patch, but watch out for potential problems. |

AskWoody LoungerJuly 29, 2003 at 4:20 pm #697701Hi Michael
You could try Spyware Blaster from WildersSecurity. There is info on the link as to how this free program works. Although it may not work for your specific situation, it still is worthwhile to have IMHO. As with all software of this type, update the ref file frequently.
Have a Great day!!!

I find Spyware Blaster helpful and use it. Also you can check against the data bases at
Spyware Guide.com and Spychecker.Wilder Security’s Spyware Guard sits in your system tray, and I’ve run it for a while–I’m not sure how helpful it is–jury’s still out on it for me. It isn’t causing problems or using resources. These are the same people who make Spyware Blaster–so it’s an adjunct. You can give them a try.
Also I think that a number of people forget to do something I’ve really found important when they run Ad-Aware which is to click the globe to Update Ad-Aware’s Reference File— important if you’re going to run it–also if you hit the forums on the sites for Ad-Aware and Spybot–you’ll make your running them more effecive IMHO. I think keeping the reference file up is almost as important as keeping your viral definitions current daily.
