I just found out about a really neat feature in Adobe Acrobat Reader – Fill and Sign. Fill and Sign allows you to fill in a blank form by typing your answers (by scanning the form to PDF format, then filling it in on-screen), as opposed to handwriting your answers. It takes only a couple of minutes to learn how to use Fill and Sign. Once you have learned it, the possibilities are endless. Here are some examples:
    * Fill in a form on-screen by typing your answers, rather than printing it out and filling it in by hand.
    * Add notes to a receipt you have scanned in – great when doing an expense report.
    * Add notes to a map or a picture.

I have Adobe Acrobat Reader DC, version 2019.021.20056. I’m sure that this feature is on all modern versions of Adobe Acrobat Reader.

I also do it in PDF exchange viewer using typewriter. (free!!)
Not Adobe and 1/10 the bloat 😉
My only problem is printing as the popup gets scaled wrong with atypical my screen res and 150 % font size ….

This is truly one of the best things I have ever found out about! I’m having to fill out lots of paperwork these days, and this is truly a lifesaver.

Too bad Adobe doesn’t make a version of Acrobat Reader for Linux. But it’s just a click to get to my W8.1 VM, so it’s not a big deal at this time.

Sorry PDF exchange viewer does not have a Linux version, I am sure a similar program can be found in LINUX.
As an aside I just spent the better part of a day getting my XP VM using office 97 to print my xmas labels (w/ barcodes something that was missing newer Words last I checked) .

Plenty of those, too (as in too many to list) – and current tools are even easy to use. Been possible a lot longer than it’s been easy and all that.

First example, Xournal – easy to use notetaking application that’ll load a PDF as the background if you tell it to, so you can add stuff on top of it. In the “universe/gnome” section in the Ubuntu repositories.

Second, modern versions of LibreOffice… full edit capability on PDFs these days. Can also add fields and save as fillable PDF for use in other applications.

And I’m also told it’s possible to run PDF-Xchange Viewer on Linux with Wine. Haven’t tried that myself.

Hm, yeah, direct barcode support doesn’t seem to be there in LibreOffice either.
