I am running Win98 2nd ed. I am confused about the dates shown under File Properties: Created, Modified and Accessed.
It is not unusual for the “date Created” to be more recent than the “date Modified”. How can that be so and what actions cause these dates to be changed?
    Thanks in advance
    John

The only cases I have noticed are when a file is copied to a new location, after the original had been modified.

Although I agree with Granville, there is one other possibility (which occured to me at work). Check you computers clock to ensure the correct date/time is being displayed. In my case, the copmuter’s battery went south and we had several files modified before catching the problem.

        Hope this helps.

I have looked at your attached thread. No disrespect was intended in my above post. Let us instead say my computers battery decided to head for parts unknown.

BTB – There is an old DOS utility that would change date/time stamps (can not remember the name now). Developers used to use it to designate version numbers (Microsoft used this technique to verify various application version numbers).
