• FFASTLOG.TXT? (Office 2000 SR1)

Can anyone tell me why there seems to be a Findfast log file even when the findfast has not been installed, there is no CPL file and nothing in the registry or startup folder which seems to be related to the indexer?

I regularly see a C:WINDOWSTEMPFFASTLOG.TXT file which simply records something about “exiting”.

I think this file is always created when you install MS Office, regardless of whether you use indexing or not. You can safely delete it.

You write “I regularly see”. Do you mean that it returns after deleting it? In that case, it would seem that FindFast is still active somehow…

Within Windows startup is a reference to Microsoft Office Startup.
      Microsoft Office Startup invokes Findfast.
But this is only once at boot time.
Checking ffastlog.txt essentially shows your pc’s last startup time. This can be useful.

If Findfast.cpl is not present how can Office Startup invoke FF?
