• FF2.0 Java problem (FF2.0)

Since using FF2.0 I am having a problem (error message below) when clicking on a java calendar at a car rental site or travel site or vacation rental site. No issue using Opera 9.1 or IE6. Also, The click tagpanel at this site just spawns another minitab rather than placing the appropriate item in my post. FF does everything else just fine. FF will open java applets for games (like the ones found at netives.com) without issue. I uninstalled java (v1.5.0.8) and reinstalled, no change. Anyone with any ideas?

      Hi there

In the middle of doing the graphic I saw that your image states javascript and I took the assumption from your title that it was java that was the problem.

Have you got Enable Java and Enable Javascript ticked in your Tools|Options|Content tab?

Thanks for the thought, sadly that was the first place I looked. At this point I may live with it for a week or two more and see if I receive a miraculous solution from electron heaven. If that does not happen I will reinstall FF from the ground (hard drive) on up adding one extension at a time to see what happens.

Before you reinstall… can you post a link to that page? Maybe it’s not your system but a script incompatibility with Firefox.

(Actually, I’m still running 1.5.0.8, so I’m not sure I will have the same issue. Others can try, too.)

I’m getting in OK to McLean Company Rentals (and running Java 1.5.0._09 – but I don’t think it’s that) but you must have cookies enabled.

I also having no problem with the 1-click panel.

What are your Advanced JavaScript Options set to?

Just a reminder: You have to be sure that no extensions are interfering. If you have some, a rapid way to check
is to use FF in safe mode (from Start>Programs). If it does turn out that that is the problem, then you need
to disable whichever one(s) are the offenders. (or tweak the relevant options, eg, allow script on the site
        if you have Noscript).

I am not sure what changed between this morning and tonight except that I ran a boot-time disk check mid-day, and now no more errors in FF with the calendars. I still have a problem with the Click TagPanel here in the lounge. When attempting to put a url tag or click on the help in the open CTP I get a new blank tab with the label shown below. When I tried to add a smilie all I got was a blank tab.

The 1-Click and Smilies panels should open in Pop-Ups – if I read your attachment right, they are opening up in new tabs.

Can you check your settings under your Tabbed Browsing options?
(Or it may be something else controlling pop-ups…)

Do you happen to have the Tabbrowser Preferences extension installed? That looks reminiscent of the problems I had (java script: urls misbehaving) when I first switched to FF2.0 I fixed it by disabling the Tabbrowser Preferences extension.

Disableing TabBrowserPreferences Extension fixed the problems I was having at the Lounge. clapping And just to clarify from Leif’s post , the new tabs were within the pop-up. Thank you all again and it looks like I will wait for an update before re-enableing that extension. cheers
