Hi. I write a weekly newspaper column for computer novices and I explained the Links toolbar recently. if you can get past the beginner terminolgy, you might just learn to like Links.

Q179599 Cannot Move, Delete, or Rename Links Folder on Favorites Menu

Although the article refers to W95, W98 and NT4 only, I see no reason why it should not be applicable to other OS’s.

Bottom line: you can’t delete it. But, as they say, you can hide it:

Although the Links folder cannot be deleted, the properties of the Links folder can be set to Hidden so that the folder is no longer displayed when you open the Favorites.

To set the properties of the Links folder to Hidden:

1] Click Favorites on the toolbar.
2] Right-click the Links folder, and then click Properties.
3] Click to select the Hidden check box.
      4] Click OK.

It is used to make the “Links Toolbar” and IE will continue to remake it. I just add my “HOT” stites to it and delete the ones MS thinks I need.

But the user wants to get RID of the Links folder in Favorites…not KEEP it. There must be a way of getting rid of it…I have no use for it at all. I rt click it and delete it…but about every 3rd or 4th restart of my computer, the folder is back again! help
