Can you post a cut down version of your database for us to see.

It is not clear what the two tables are (or even why there are two tables.)
It is normal to have a self join for genealogy database, so that the father and mother of an individual are entries in the same table.

I am sorry but I don’t understand why you have two tables : Cows and Transactions, both of which seem to be Cows.

I am not a farmer, so when you talk about Replacement and Keeping Back, I don’t know what you mean.

I attach a very simple example showing a single table can refer to itself, and how a query can extract information for 3 generations.

Sounds like you should be using a recursive table. With all your livestock in the one table but with two fields that points to its parent(s).

When you write your report you can group on each Parent and have a sub report that finds all of its children.

Does this sound like what you want? If so then you are welcome to ask for more detail.
