‘Failed to load product info file’ (XP/SP1 (build 2600))

Recently, when I “right click” on the start button or any item on my desktop i receive an error message box which reads “Failed to load product info file”. The system then freezed momentarily, refreshes itself, and returns me to where I was before “right clicking.” This also happens when I try to delete an item from the desktop and from several other files. Any idea what’s wrong and suggestions on how to fix the problem? Thanks

Did you install/uninstall “J. River Media Center” ?

Yes, I uninstalled J. River Media Center. Is that the cause?

Apparently. Take a look at these two threads.

If you have a Restore Point set before installing Media Center you should revert to it.
