When I purchased my laptop, I was able to also download the files and create a “factory” recovery US B thumb drive.  Here’s a screenshot of what’s on that thumb drive.

Question:  If I want to make a copy of this thumb drive and its contents, can I just copy all of the files to another USB thumb drive.  My intent is to have a backup copy somewhere else.

    Thanks,

    Mike

The license agreements may say only one backup, but any drive may not be reliable for years! You may have the ability to create another recovery USB flash drive, but if you cannot do so again with the built-in software there are alternatives.

You should make an image or clone of the USB Drive, using Macrium Reflect Free, Aomei Backupper Standard, other folks here may recommend to you other products. (A drive image or clone will have the boot-able part you’ll need to start the factory recovery process.)

Macrium Reflect Free can create a space saving image (intelligent copying), some other free products may offer a similar feature.

If already have you own backup suite software then see if you can make a complete drive image or clone and save that elsewhere many times.

I would expect that to be a boot drive and it may just work by copying the files.
Give it a whirl and if it doesn’t work with a straight copy, convert the drive to an ISO and then you can easily burn it to a new USB.

I use ISO Recorder by Alex Feinman, but there are others.

      cheers, Paul
