I need to extend the system reserved partition because my system will not upgrade to Win 10 21H2.

All suggested tools I keep seeing are of Chinese origin and I don’t trust ANY software vendor from that region. Are there any trustworthy vendors that are more feature rich and would allow easily resizing a system reserved partition?

    TIA

It’s chinese but it works really well and is very easy to use : AOMEI Partition Assistant. And it’s free.

I use MiniTool Partition Wizard for all my partition work.

      cheers, Paul

I second MiniTool Partition Wizard – even the Free version will allow the easy extension of partitions, taking available space from another partition on the disk.

What backup solution do you use might be another question.

Myself I don’t bother much, but there is a good chance if you can find enough space for the data that you could back up all the partitions to an external device and repartition in new sizes restoring each data set to its place correctly (using DISM and diskpart, the hard way..) Windows will probably hardly notice. (you don’t have to process the MSR partition, just create it.)

The other thing worth a go before getting busy with partitions IF you have space on another “fixed” drive / partition is to station the entire setup file set there and run setup from within Windows, as setup then just has to update the local component store from the source location instead of localising the files from media to the installation drive first.. assuming it works like Windows 10.. might be worth doing setup /? in cmd prompt first to see if MS have added any useful options..

Thanks everyone. Most, if not all, are in fact Chinese software. You can trust who you like but I’ll hard pass on that.

I use TeraByte BootIt UEFI for partition work.  I’ve been using BootIt in it’s various iterations for over two decades.  It’s not free, but it does have a fully  functional 30-day free trial.

        Company Information

TeraByte Unlimited, was established in 1992 as a sole proprietorship in Palm Springs, CA. The company got its start by providing a wide range of computer services, including sales of hardware and software, consulting, repair, network installation and custom programming for the IBM PC and IBM midrange platforms.

In 1994, TeraByte Unlimited began development on a unique multi-boot solution that became the first in the BootIt line of multi-boot boot managers, which continues to be the industry-leading boot management product. (click here for a quick history of BootIt)

TeraByte Unlimited moved to Las Vegas, NV in 1998 and in 2001 incorporated as Nevada corporation; TeraByte, Inc. dba TeraByte Unlimited.

TeraByte is not only a software development company but a core technology company that has licensed its technology to partners that develop the branded software for some of the largest technology companies in the world.

Do you use any device, car, home appliance, clothes… that doesn’t have / has been build.. in China ?

@Alex5723 I am keenly aware of where things are currently manufactured. I’m happy to see production will be moving elsewhere in the future. It is MY choice what software I use and will make a different one than many. If you trust it, fine — I do not and there are real reasons not to do so.
