Has anyone tried exporting Access data to Quicken?

Here’s my scenario…..my client requires that his Access application print 3-section checks (one is the actual check, the next the stub that is delivered with the check, and the final the stub that remains with my client) with very specific information on the stubs. Fortunately, all of the information required for the stubs is already in the database therefore it is a simple report. The problem is that someone has to take all those stubs and input them into their Quicken software. Keep in mind this company is using only Quicken, not QuickBooks.

I know this is probably beyond the scope of the lounge, but has anyone explored this tactic? Or does anyone know Quicken well enough to direct me on required protocol for importing?

Any help will be appreciated.

Hi Kathi,

It’s been a while since I’ve used Quicken, but I don’t think there’s an easy way to send data into it. However, I’m fairly certain that I remember an import feature on Quickbooks PRO (emphasis on the PRO). I know there is an export to Excel/Word feature on Quickbooks Pro. Maybe your user can upgrade – it’s only a couple hundred bucks…

I have no experience with what you want to do, however I use Quicken 2000 and down load my checking accounts via Fleet Online.

I think they may use a QIF import format. You may only need to get the record layout for Transactions from Intuit.

After further review. If you can get your Access check stubs into Microsoft Money:

Quicken converts your Microsoft Money data to Quicken format when you open the file through Quicken.

1 Choose File menu > Open.

2 If necessary, navigate to the directory containing the Microsoft Money file you want to convert. Money files have an extension of .MNY.

3 Select the file you want to convert and click OK. Quicken converts the file for you, and when it’s finished, displays a summary window telling you what has and hasn’t converted.
