I have just setup a Small Business Server 2003 with Exchange Server 2003.

When we try to send mail to an AOL account, the message gets stuck in the SmallBusiness SMTP Connector – AOL.COM que.

When I delete the message from the cue, the NDR states that “This message was rejected due to the current administrative policy by the destination server. ”

We don’t have this problem sending mail to Yahoo, Hotmail, MyWay, etc.

It seems like this is a problem with the AOL mail servers, but is there some property I should be changing on my end to let AOL accept the messages?

What is the last server between you and AOL: your box or your ISP’s SMTP server? AOL might have jumped on the sender identification bandwagon, in which case you might not be set up properly to connect directly to its servers.

All of our mail goes through our ISP’s SMTP server.

I suggest complaining to your ISP. Perhaps they’ve gotten themselves onto a black hole list (open relays which permit abuse by spammers) or have made an error in implementing something? Best to include as much detail of the NDR message as possible (e.g., numeric error codes).
