Excel11.xlb (Excel 2003)

IT changed computers on me – I did save the Excel11.xlb file to the server and then copied it back to:
C:Documents and SettingsAbramsMApplication DataMicrosoftExcel on my new computer.
(Personal.xls went into the XLStart folder)

When I open a spreadsheet the menu does not appear.

Am I supposed to “link” to it somehow?

Excel should automatically use the Excel11.xlb file in that folder. You could experiment by renaming it to Excel11.old, then starting Excel and modifying a toolbar. When you quit Excel, a .xlb file should appear somewhere, so do a search if it doesn’t appear in the folder where you expect it.
It is also possible to add the customizations by opening (double clicking) the .xlb file.

I deleted the xlb I placed there. Then I opened a spreadsheet, made a minimal change. Excel created a new xlb file, I copied and pasted mine and “overwrote” the current one. It works fine now.

My experience is that if you just copy the .xlb file into that directory on an istallation where Excel has never created a .xlb file, it will not automatically find it. If you go to that directory and double click on the file to open it, and then shut down Excel, then Excel should remember that the file is there the next time it starts up.
