Excel to Word (Word 2003)

I have several excel spreadsheets that need to be converted to Word. The excel spreadsheets print to one page (print to fit) and when I copy to Word, they go over multiple pages. I need some help. I have about 100 to do. I do not know why they did them in Excel!

Do you want to include the worksheets as Excel objects in a Word document (preserving formulas etc.), or do you want to convert them to Word tables (without formulas)?

Hans,

There are no formulas. It is just a form for them to print and fill out. I am at my wits ends. I have tried every trick but I know you have something that will help.
attached is a sample worksheet that I need to put into word on 1 page.

I don’t think it’ll be easy to convert these forms – it’ll require lots and lots of manual adjustments after copying it into Word:

– Reduce the page margins in the File | Print Setup dialog.
– Select the entire table (click in it and press Alt+Num 5)
– Reduce the font size, e,g. to 8 points.
– Select Table | Table Properties, activate the Row tab and clear the “Specify Height” check box, then click OK.
– Fiddle with the column widths. You can’t use autofit for this.

I’d either redesign the forms from scratch in Word, or leave them in Excel.

I don’t understand – If these are ‘forms’ that are to be printed before being filled in, why do they need to be converted to Word?

Regardless, if you copy & paste the ‘forms’ into Word via Edit|Paste Special you can choose an Excel, picture or bitmap object. Any of these will allow you to re-scale the pasted object to fit your Word document’s margins. If you choose the ‘link’ option as well, any subsequent edits to your Excel Workbook will be reflected in the Word document. If you do paste the Workkbook as an Excel, picture or bitmap object, I recommend turning off the Excel gridline display beforehand – otherwise they’ll be displayed and printed in Word. If you paste the Workkbook as an Excel object without linking, you will still be able to edit it from within Word – something you can’t really do with the other object formats.
